Objectives and Goals of First Aid Training

You may not be however, performing CPR increases the chances of survival. Fatalities can be prevented with the help of first aid. First aid training is a life-saving and a valuable course. In order to understand more about first aid training, here are some of the objectives and goals.

  1. Preserve Life – First aid training comprises of life preservation. Some of the examples of life preservation include providing CPR or attending to a person who is choking. Before a medic arrives, first aid is about clearing blocked airways and maintaining air circulation in the body in order to avoid brain damage and heat attacks.
  2. Preventing Injury and Illness from Escalating – During your training on first aid, you will be taught on attending injuries and containing wounds from getting damaged or spreading further. For instance; if an individual seems to bleed constantly, then the goal of the first aider is to stop the bleeding till the arrival of medical help.
  3. Promote Recovery – Promotion of recovery is a part of first aid program. It can be in the form of disinfecting, washing and putting a bandage to a wound. Antibiotic ointment is also a part of promoting healing to the patient.
  4. Relieve Pain – If a patient is not at risk, then the first aider should offer some sense of pain relief. However, if a patient is bleeding, then it isn’t recommended to offer pain relief medication.
  5. Protect Unconscious Patient’s – If a patient is unconscious, then the first aider needs to ensure they move to a safer condition by pulling them out from dangerous scenarios.
