How To Treat Compressed Air

Treating compressed air requires the use of particle filters and filter coalescing in a compressed air system. Particulate filters are mainly used to remove contaminants of solid particles up to 5 microns.

Particulate filters are mostly used in industrial applications that need clean compressed air. Examples include, but are not limited to, air motor, air tools, air hoists, air spray weapons, air exercise, and other pneumatic or air equipment.

Particles act as abrasives in internal parts in pneumatic equipment; Therefore clean compressed air shipping is very important to extend equipment life. If you want to know more about the air compressors, visit

How do particulates work? Because the wet and dirty air is directed down and outside in a circular motion with a baffle in the form of a turbine, liquid particles and gross separate. Liquid and particles flow to the bottom of the bottom bowl to dry. The air filtered partly then passes the 5-micron filter media element.

What is the right way to measure the particulate filters? Wilkerson particle filters are specially sized based on airflow and pressure, and also useful for entering information such as temperature and pipe sizes.

If the filter is small, it will cause a decrease in pressure. As a practical rule, its size so that the decrease in pressure is no more than 2.5 PSIG to avoid high operating maintenance costs.
